About Us
For years, GVSS has helped Bozeman property owners build landscapes that make sense for the site, the climate, the budget, and the way they actually want to use their property.
GVSS self performs the six site trades that sit between substantial completion and occupancy. One contract, one accountable party, sequenced to your schedule.
We believe the best landscapes start below the surface.
A landscape can look great on day one and still have problems waiting underneath. Poor grading, drainage that was never fully planned, irrigation that no longer fits the property, or soil that was not properly prepared can all become expensive issues later.
GVSS started with site work. Over time, we added design, planting, irrigation, hardscape, and annual care so we could help customers carry a property from the groundwork through the finished landscape.
That background still shapes how we approach every project. We look at the grade, drainage, soil, and infrastructure first, then build everything else around a foundation that is meant to last.
We’ll tell you what makes sense for your property.
Every property is different, and not every idea is the right fit. We’ll be clear about what works, what doesn’t, and when another specialist is the better call. If something falls outside our scope, we’ll point you in the right direction so your project can keep moving.
01 Budget Before Design
We ask your budget first and design inside it. Not to spend all of it. To avoid showing you something you can't build.
02 Numbers Before Renderings
We give you real numbers before a rendering. A drawing is easy to fall in love with and hard to price after the fact.
03 Plan for Phasing
We say when phasing makes sense. Most projects here should be phased. We would rather tell you that up front than discover it halfway through.
04 We Know Our Lane
We tell you what we don't do, and who to call. The referral costs us nothing and it saves you a month.

Your Most Important Questions Answered Here
Is GVSS licensed, bonded, and insured?
Yes. GVSS is licensed in the state of Montana, carries general liability to [$#]M and workers' compensation at commercial limits, and holds bonding capacity to [$#]M aggregate. Certificates and surety letters are available for any bid package on request.
Can GVSS review drawings before the set is final?
Yes, and it is the engagement we prefer. A preliminary plan review returns a budget checked against the engineer's estimate, substitutions that hold the design intent, a constructability read, and a schedule built around the local install window. There is no charge and no obligation to use us.
How do I add GVSS to a bid list?
Send the project name, a scope summary, your target mobilization date, and a point of contact through the form on this page. We reply within [#] business days.
What is the install window for site work in the Gallatin Valley?
Roughly April 1 to October 15. Hydroseed establishes best in May and June and again in September. Hardscape can run later, weather permitting. Work pushed past the window carries dormant seeding risk, winter stabilization cost, and a sprin
Does GVSS self perform, or subcontract the site package?
GVSS self performs site work, topsoil screening, grading, hardscape, irrigation infrastructure, and hydroseed and restoration. Perimeter fencing is coordinated rather than self performed.
How much screened topsoil can GVSS produce on site?
Up to 1,000 yards per day. On most commercial sites that is a short engagement rather than a phase, and it eliminates trucking in both directions.
What documentation does GVSS provide on a commercial project?
Submittals, schedule of values, certified payroll where required, lien waivers, and a close out package including as builts and warranty documentation.
Where does GVSS work?
Bozeman, Belgrade, Big Sky, Livingston, Manhattan, and Three Forks, across the greater Gallatin Valley.
